First I must make a confession to all our readers: Your author/editor is burnt out. It was just 20 years ago I began this quest. I was not in the best health. Having come from a medical background, I knew that conventional medicine couldn't help me. I had experience naturopathy while living overseas. I knew there was more to health and wellness than a checkup every year and drugs.

Along the way I made some discoveries that changed my life, and because of letters from readers, they've made some changes in your lives. When a bug hits, it no longer knocks me out for 2 to 3 weeks. Because of my discovery of Del-Immune V, it's gone in just a couple of hours. In fact, this budding cold and flu season tossed six bugs my way over the past two months, and Del-Immune V took care of it all very quickly. One day I came home from tennis and a trip to the car repair shop. All the way home I had an itch in the back of my throat and then I started sneezing. Head was getting stuffed up; a little pressure up there. When I arrived home I took 10 Del-Immune V caps, lay down for a while. I awoke an hour and a half later, felt pretty darn good, and kept my happy hour date with a friend. The stuff works and it works well.

Del-Immune V instead.

I've discovered Ron Salley's healing creams, Omegasentials, and much more that have enriched many lives.

For nearly 16 years I'd been chasing something someone told me about early on in this quest: a solution, looks like water, tastes like water, but kills all pathogens. It's called Covalent Silver Solution. If you Google that you'll get over 18,000 hits. Many have the same exact story about it, and some claim to be the inventors.

I finally tracked down the inventor and now I'm writing a book about the invention, the inventor, and the long 30 year struggle to get it to the world.

This led me to also finding backers for this project and many more projects that I could only once dream about. However, there are forces of evil. What is the evil? Someone you might have heard of once said, "The love of money is the root of all evil."

Many of my discoveries have run up against the forces of evil, because those with the money, who want to keep that money, and want to avast even more money, don't like the competition. They've joined forces with the FDA and FCC to keep the competition down.

Some call this a conspiracy theory. It is no theory. It is simply the rules of monopolies: take market share and destroy the competition.

It's business. Medicine and wellness in our society is a business, and the bottom line of any business it the "almighty" dollar.

My backers are battling the forces of evil. However, for the past two years, we've all been living on the edge of our seats, tempting bankruptcy, while knowing that tomorrow we'll finally succeed.

Can you imagine living like that for two years?

If you can, then you know why I am burnt out.

I am an avid student of Eckhart Tolle and his movement (it started as a book) called The Power of Now. I meditate, stay focused, stay present, exercise, do tai chi and qigong (moving meditation), but, knowing that tomorrow is "the day" does not keep one in the present, and in fact, creates a whole bushel basket of stress.

I am burnt out.

Yet still, even today as I write these words, the group backing me assures me that tomorrow (or very soon this coming week) is our breakthrough.

I will admit, that from the latest developments, having side stepped the forces of evil, that we are very close.

We've been remiss in getting out newsletters, updating the site, and doing our research. However, if the dream comes true, we will build this site to be the most informative, most well researched, most cutting edge health and wellness site on the web, completely void of advertising. This was my goal when I started out 20 years ago.

If everything works out, we will hire journalists and researchers who will maintain the web site, publish books, both electronically and on paper. We will produce movies, DVD, educational materials, and even build curriculum for grades K - 12.

Right now it is only a dream, and your dreamer is burnt out.

I apologies to everyone, however I am asking for good thoughts, prayers, and vibrations sent our way. If we succeed, we, along with all of you, can change the world.

The California referendum to force food companies to label Genetically Modified (Frankenfoods) went down because of the huge amount of money the food industry spent to keep us ignorant. Major high blood pressure drug causes ‘celiac’ stomach problems

One of the world’s most widely used drugs for high blood pressure causes serious stomach problems that mimic celiac disease. Olmesartan – marketed as Olmetec in the UK and Benicar in the US – can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss and electrolyte abnormalities.

A number of patients had been diagnosed with celiac disease – when wheat triggers a serious immune reaction – while olmesartan had been the real culprit, researchers from the Mayo Clinic have discovered.

Physicians at the clinic treated 22 patients for celiac disease – with symptoms ranging from chronic diarrhea and weight loss, including one case of a patient losing 125 pounds – before they realised that olmesartan was to blame. When the patients were taken off the drug, their symptoms disappeared.

It’s not the first time that health doubts have circled over olmesartan. In 2010, researchers were concerned that the drug was increasing the risk of death among people who also had type II diabetes.

Olmesartan has been marketed since 2002 to lower high blood pressure (hypertension), and has annual sales of around $568m.

Stone fruits combat weight gain, heart disease and inflammation

Fruits with stones – such as peaches, plums and nectarines – can help ward off heart disease, and even help you stay slim, especially if you have diabetes.

The fruits have bioactive compounds that work on different cellular activities that are generally called ‘metabolic syndrome’. Diseases associated with the syndrome include obesity, inflammation and heart disease.

Researchers from Texas AgriLife say the stone fruits are unusual because they all contain four major compounds that work simultaneously against different components of syndrome-related diseases.

Something discussed here, at our site, already (and in our book Bypassing Bypass): Heart disease patients halve risk of stroke by meditating

People with heart disease can halve their risk of suffering a stroke or fatal heart attack by meditating, new research suggests.

Transcendental Meditation (TM) lowers the risk by as much as 48 per cent, even in people who are obese and who smoke, say researchers from the Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention in Fairfield, Iowa.

The technique also lowers blood pressure, and the meditators reported experiencing less stress and anger when they practised it for 20 minutes twice a day.

For the study, 201 black American heart patients either started meditating or attended a health education class, where they adopted better diets and lifestyles. The average body-mass index (BMI) in both groups was 32, which is clinically obese, and nearly 60 per cent were taking cholesterol-lowering drugs.

Despite the similarities, those in the TM group had a 48 per cent reduced risk of heart attack, stroke or death from any cause compared to those in the education group.

Diabetics’ clogged arteries caused by low vitamin D levels

Low vitamin D levels play an essential role in diabetes—and now researchers have discovered that a deficiency is the cause of clogged arteries and heart disease in diabetics.

The vitamin stops the inflammatory process in diabetics, which involves immune cells binding to blood vessels near the heart. When there is a vitamin D deficiency, a class of white blood cells are more likely to stick to cells in the artery wall, say researchers from the Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis.

The research team had earlier discovered a direct link between a vitamin D deficiency and heart disease in diabetics, but their latest research uncovers the mechanism that takes place.

The next stage in their studies is to see if high vitamin D levels can reverse atherosclerosis, or clogged arteries, in diabetics.

Most cancer patients believe chemo will cure—but it doesn’t

Eighty per cent of patients with a cancer that is spreading (metastatic) agree to chemotherapy because they wrongly believe the drugs will cure them, researchers have discovered this week.

Chemotherapy may prolong life by weeks, or even months, in people whose cancer is spreading—but the patients believe the treatment will reverse the disease.

Researchers from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute discovered a major miscommunication between the oncologist and the patient when they interviewed 1,193 patients with metastatic lung or colorectal cancer.

Four out of five patients believed the chemotherapy would cure them, even after they had discussed the treatment with their doctor. Very few of them selected one of the other two more likely outcomes: that the chemo might extend their lives or that it might help with some of the symptoms associated with the cancer.

Mobile phones do cause brain tumours, Italian court rules

Mobile (cell) phones do cause brain tumours, an Italian court has ruled, a decision that is expected to open the floodgates to class action suits against manufacturers and network operators.

Italy’s Supreme Court in Rome has concluded there is a direct causal link between extensive mobile phone use and brain tumours after hearing evidence from two doctors, oncologist Angelo Gino Levis and neurosurgeon Giuseppe Grasso.

They testified on behalf of businessman Innocente Marcolini, 60, who developed a tumour after using a mobile phone for up to six hours every day for 12 years.

In their testaments, the doctors said that mobile and cordless phones damage cells, making tumours more likely. All children and those adults who use the phones extensively are especially at risk, they say.

Mr Marcolini developed a tumour close to the area where he consistently held the phone. Although the tumour was benign, it threatened his life because it had spread to the carotid artery, which carries blood to the brain. The left side of his face has been left paralysed, and he has to take morphine drugs every day to ease the pain.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified mobile phone technology as a class B carcinogen, and urges restricted use, especially among children.

After the hearing, Prof Levis said: "The court decision finally officially recognises a link. It will open not a road but a motorway to legal actions by victims."

The court ruling remains controversial, however. Some scientists maintain a link between mobile technology and cancer has not been established, and several extensive studies have also failed to find a connection. Most of the studies have been funded by the mobile phone industry, however.

(Source: Daily Telegraph, 19 October 2012) From www.wddty.com

Editor's Note: We've known this for years. Radiation causes changed in our cells and those changes can turn into tumors. We will see generations of brain tumors soon. Kids should not use them. People who put their phones to their ears should know that after just ten minutes of talking, permanent damage to the brain has occurred (according to early studies).

If you have a phone, keep it away from your body. Use the speaker function. Ear phones and blue tooth devices aren't much better.

New ‘gentle’ therapy for breast cancer is saving more lives

Doctors are starting to adopt a ‘less is more’ strategy when it comes to treating breast cancer. Chemotherapy, radiation and invasive surgery are being abandoned for gentler approaches that have better cure rates.

Leading the way are oncologists at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), who have put together a new blueprint for breast cancer treatment that other doctors are beginning to follow.

Basing their new approach on the latest evidence, the SCCA method is foregoing chemotherapy for a less toxic alternative called targeted drug therapy. Up to 50 per cent of women are expected to benefit from the therapy.

Chemotherapy drugs are also being abandoned for women with so-called ‘triple negative’ breast cancer, which doesn’t respond to hormonal therapies. Instead, the SCCA programme uses a more benign drug family, the PARP inhibitors. The drugs can also be used on women whose cancer has been discovered late, and for whom chemotherapy was once the only option.

High-dose radiation is also a thing of the past for the SCCA team, who instead are using a technique known as accelerated partial breast irradiation. This is being offered to women who have had a second lumpectomy.

Conservative surgery is also being used. Instead of full breast and lymph node removal, SCCA surgery removes as few lymph nodes as possible, and also retains the nipples.

Finally, standard mammography is being abandoned for ultrasound, especially for women under the age of 40. For others, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is favoured over mammograms, which expose the woman to high doses of radiation.

Acupuncture does reduce pain – and it’s nothing to do with placebo

Acupuncture does work. A major study has confirmed that it eases chronic pain – and it’s got nothing to do with the ‘placebo effect’, or that the benefits are all in the patient’s mind.

The therapy should be included in the range of pain-control options offered to patients, say the researchers from the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York.

They are convinced of acupuncture’s effectiveness because of the sheer size of the research they carried out. It involved collating 29 different studies, which involved 17,922 patients who were given acupuncture or ‘sham’ acupuncture. With sham acupuncture, the needles are either not inserted properly or are put in ‘wrong’ areas of the body.

The patients given real acupuncture reported a far greater reduction in their pain than did those given sham acupuncture, so demonstrating that it was the actual therapy – and not the placebo effect – that was working.

(Source: Archives of Internal Medicine, 2012, published ahead of print, September 10, 2012; doi:0.1001/archinternmed.2012.3654).

Acupuncture better than surgery for severe knee arthritis

Acupuncture – the alternative therapy that isn’t supposed to work – can relieve the pain of knee osteoarthritis so effectively that surgery isn’t needed.

Patients were still saying they weren’t feeling any pain even two years after acupuncture, whereas, by then, one in seven of those who have conventional surgery complain of suffering severe pain.

Knee arthritis affects around 17 per cent of the over-50s who suffer significant pain. The most common remedy is knee surgery, although this is offered only when the pain is constant and walking becomes almost impossible.

A group of 90 sufferers, with an average age of 71 years, were treated with acupuncture. In each case, the arthritis was so severe that it warranted surgery. Instead, they were given acupuncture once a week for a month, and then once every six weeks. Thirty-one were still having regular acupuncture sessions two years later.

In each case, the patients reported a dramatic reduction in pain, stiffness, and an improvement in mobility. The improvements were so dramatic that none needed to have surgery.

Statin Drug Update

We have long warned our readers against using statin drugs mainly because CHOLESTEROL DOES NOT CAUSE HEART DISEASE.

But....finally, a study has just been released that has yet to hit the mainstream.

Statin Drugs Are Killers:

Statin drugs – designed to protect against heart disease by lowering cholesterol – are killers, and accelerate cardiovascular problems, a damning new report has discovered.

The drugs harden the main arteries, they are a main cause of type 2 diabetes in healthy people, and they accelerate the major health problems in diabetics, say researchers from the Phoenix Veterans Affairs’ Healthcare System. In short, the drugs help cause heart disease and death.

They monitored the health of 197 patients with type 2 diabetes and their use of statins. Coronary artery hardening, or calcification, was far more accelerated in the patients who were regular statin users compared to those who took the drugs only occasionally.

Patients who weren’t initially taking a statin quickly developed aortic artery hardening once they started taking the drug regularly.

The researchers fear their latest discoveries are but the tip of an iceberg of statin-associated adverse effects. Their database lists 300 adverse effects, including the weakening of the heart and increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes by 48 per cent in post-menopausal women.

(Source: Diabetes Care, 2012; epublished ahead of print: PMID: 22875226).

A drink a day stops bone loss in women after the menopause

Women who face bone loss and endometriosis after menopause might have an alcoholic drink once in a while. It seems to help preserve bone density.

Alcohol seems to have the same bone-preserving qualities as estrogen, and its effects are very significant, say researchers from the Oregon State University. They studied 40 post-menopausal women who regularly had one or two alcoholic drinks a day and weren’t taking HRT. Within two weeks of non-drinking, researchers noticed that the women’s bone deterioration accelerated, and stopped in less than a day when they started drinking again.

Exercise and a good diet play a part, too, say the researchers. The other problem is that this ‘moderate’ amount of alcohol may not be so moderate after all, and revised safety levels are now suggesting just one small glass of wine every other day.

(Source: Menopause, 2012; 19:).

Editor's note: we all look for the easiest route, and as good and simple as this looks, lifting weights with proper nutrition (Vitamin D and dark green veggies) will not only prevent osteoporosis, it will keep us younger longer.

SSRI antidepressants cause miscarriage and preterm birth

Pregnant women often suffer from depression—but they shouldn’t be given an SSRI antidepressant. The drugs can cause miscarriage, preterm birth, complications and long-term neurological problems, including autism, in the child.

Doctors should prescribe the drugs only with great caution, if at all, and should explain all the possible risks
to the woman before she agrees to take an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor), say researchers from the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

The research team discovered that there is a very real risk for pregnant women taking an SSRI—and yet there is no evidence the drugs even help ease depression.

There’s a strong association between pregnancy and depression, and an even stronger one among women undergoing infertility treatment, such as IVF. Around 11 per cent of women having treatment take an SSRI, and it may even be the drug that is reducing the woman’s chances of getting pregnant.

If they do succeed, they are more likely to suffer a miscarriage, and their child could have congenital abnormalities, such as heart defects that have been associated with the SSRI, Paxil.

The biggest worry is preterm births, however. More than 30 studies have discovered a direct link to the drug.

Chlorine in water could be major cause of food allergies

Most of us have a food allergy or intolerance—and the culprit could be the chemicals used to chlorinate the public water supply. The chemical, dichlorophenol, is also found in pesticides, which we can absorb from the air we breathe and the food we eat, say researchers.

Researchers have pinpointed the chemical as the most likely cause of f
ood allergies and intolerances after they discovered that sufferers had the highest levels of the pollutant in their body. Of the 2,211 people with high levels of dichlorophenol analysed in a survey, 411 had a food allergy—which can sometimes be life-threatening—and another 1,016 had an environmental allergy, such as hay fever.

However, it’s been estimated that half the population of the West has food intolerance—often to wheat, milk or eggs—which is a milder form of allergy where there is discomfort and difficulty in digesting the food. This, too, could be caused by the chemical.

The chemical is extensively used to chlorinate the water supply we get from our taps (faucets) and in pesticides. So, even changing to bottled water may not do the trick, say researchers from the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. It’s also found on the fruit and vegetable we eat—unless, of course, you eat organic.

A few facts concerning Fluoride:

A Harvard meta-analysis funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has concluded that water fluoridation significantly lowers IQ scores in children, and may be a neurotoxicant that affects brain development

More than 23 human studies and 100 animal studies have linked fluoride to brain damage

Fluoride has immunosuppressive effects at low dosages, which can raise your risk of chronic disease, including cancer. Long-lost research linking fluoride to cancer has resurfaced in a Dutch film clip featuring Dr. Dean Burk, co-founder of the US National Cancer Institute and head of its cytochemistry department for over 30 years. In a taped interview, he equates water fluoridation to public murder.

In 1945, "Program F" is implemented by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). This is the most extensive U.S. study of the health effects of fluoride, which was the key chemical component in atomic bomb production. One of the most toxic chemicals known to man, fluoride, it is found, causes marked adverse effects to the central nervous system but much of the information is squelched in the name of national security because of fear that lawsuits would undermine full-scale production of atomic bombs.

"Fluoridation is the greatest case of scientific fraud of this century." - Robert Carlton, Ph.D, former EPA scientist, 1992

5 Million Farmers Sue Monsanto for $7.7 Billion

Launching a lawsuit against the very company that is responsible for a farmer suicide every 30 minutes, 5 million farmers are now suing Monsanto for as much as 6.2 billion euros (around 7.7 billion US dollars). The reason? As with many other cases, such as the ones that led certain farming regions to be known as the ‘suicide belt’, Monsanto has been reportedly taxing the farmers to financial shambles with ridiculous royalty charges. The farmers state that Monsanto has been unfairly gathering exorbitant profits each year on a global scale from "renewal" seed harvests, which are crops planted using seed from the previous year’s harvest.

The practice of using renewal seeds dates back to ancient times, but Monsanto seeks to collect massive royalties and put an end to the practice. Why? Because Monsanto owns the very patent to the genetically modified seed, and is charging the farmers not only for the original crops, but the later harvests as well. Eventually, the royalties compound and many farmers begin to struggle with even keeping their farm afloat. It is for this reason that India slammed Monsanto with groundbreaking ’bio-piracy’ charges in an effort to stop Monsanto from ‘patenting life’.

Jane Berwanger, a lawyer for the farmers who went on record regarding the case, told the Associated Press:

"Monsanto gets paid when it sell the seeds. The law gives producers the right to multiply the seeds they buy and nowhere in the world is there a requirement to pay (again). Producers are in effect paying a private tax on production."

The findings echo what thousands of farmers have experienced in particularly poor nations, where many of the farmers are unable to stand up to Monsanto. Back in 2008, the Daily Mail covered what is known as the ‘GM Genocide’, which is responsible for taking the lives of over 17,683 Indian farmers in 2009 alone. After finding that their harvests were failing and they started to enter economic turmoil, the farmers began ending their own lives — oftentimes drinking the very same insecticide that Monsanto provided them with.

As the information continues to surface on Monsanto’s crimes, further lawsuits will begin to take effect. After it was ousted in January that Monsanto was running illegal ‘slave-like’ working rings, more individuals became aware of just how seriously Monsanto seems to disregard their workers — so why would they care for the health of their consumers? In April, another group of farmers sued Monsanto for ‘knowingly poisoning’ workers and causing ‘devastating birth defects’.

Will endless lawsuits from millions of seriously affected individuals be the end of Monsanto?

Time will only tell.

Periodontal Secrets

You might not know this, but when it comes to our dental health, as children, our greatest problem was tooth decay, but as adults, our greatest problem is periodontal disease.

Someone found our website and contacted us. They said they liked our article on periodontal disease, and that they had created a system for people to battle it (and win).

Their article is here: Periodontal Secrets and our review of their system is here: OraWellness.

Another reader came to me saying we didn't have much on curcumin (the yellow ingredient to turmeric, a spice used in curry dishes).

I thought we had. We've pointed out that curcumin is an antioxidant, an anti-inflammatory, and that it thins the blood.

Anyway, he asked if he could submit a paper, and I agreed.

His paper is nothing like the work we do at this site. We write things that the average person can understand without oversimplifying the subject.

This article will be difficult, but he's done a lot of research and it is well worth your time to peruse as much of it as you can: Cancer, Curcumin and Ayurveda.

Age Related Hearing Loss

Another reader sent us this article. It's very well written with a web site attached at the end if you have more questions: Age Related Hearing Loss

I discovered Immunics on the web, contacted some of the people involved, and have been perusing their web site for a time now.

Immunics is a form of "spiritual" healing that, according to testimonials has healed everything from herpes to cancer.

It requires a leap of faith, however, and some will just walk away shaking their heads.

However, it is worth checking out (or I wouldn't have published their article here): What is Immunics?

Whatever Happened to American Exceptionalism?

I realize that once the title is read, there is a cluster of Americans who will burst into attack mode traducing the author of this title, his ancestors, and everyone he’s ever met with or spoken to in his entire lifetime.

For them, you cannot criticize or even hint at criticism of these great United States.

As my favorite Senator (Al Franken) once put it long before he even ran for the Senate, conservatives love their country the way a young child loves his mother. His mother can do no wrong and anyone who dares to attack his mother is a bad, bad person. Progressives, on the other hand, love their country the way they a mother loves a young child. If the child misbehaves, the mother will scold and correct the child, while still loving that child.

One problem with the conservative love of country is that pieces such as this will not be read by them because it has, from the start, called into question something that individual accepts unquestioningly.

Condoleezza Rice gave an interesting speech at the recent Republican National Convention. Rice is a very bright, successful, and talented individual. She was our National Security Advisor when we suffered the greatest breakdown in our defense system in our history. In her speech she said: “After all, when the world looks to America, they look to us because we are the most successful political and economic experiment in human history. That is the true basis of ‘American Exceptionalism.’”

I don’t have a political or foreign affairs background. I come from a scientific background. I know a little about experiments. For one thing, experiments have a beginning and an end. At the end of the experiment, you gather the data, sort it, and then make sense of it all in order to make conclusions.

The experiment is over, friends. It’s over. It’s time to look at the data and make some conclusions. For anyone to say we are still an experiment, that person would have to be a politician with no knowledge whatsoever of the scientific method.

In America’s history, what is happening to us now has happened to us three times already. Any experiment that has to go three full rounds is a bit redundant.

Three times have the moneyed powers usurped political power in this country: once during the Golden Age in the 1880s, then in the Roaring Twenties, and again today. Each time we had a boom, followed by a bust that left the masses in a depression while the wealthy, the true wealthy, profited.

The experiment is over. We know what happens when a political democracy is controlled by an oligarchy, or a monied oligarchy known politically as a plutocracy. We’ve seen the results three times.

The odd thing is we’ve been warned by conservative thinkers that democracy ends because of the common people, not the wealthy:

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the Public Treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the Public Treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy always followed by dictatorship.

~Alexander Fraser Tyler, The Decline and Fall of the Athenian Republic

This, however, is never how we’ve failed. It’s not the socialists we’ve had to fear, but the moneyed capitalists. Even Jefferson warned us:

I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country.

~Thomas Jefferson

Some people want us to fear everything but the free market. However, America did not grow exceptional just because our free market. As pointed out above, the free market, without constraints, has crashed our economy three times in our history. The middle class got poorer while the wealthy got wealthier. Even Adam Smith, the Father of Capitalism knew that capitalism needed regulations and that those at that top need to pay the most back to the society that allowed them to make and hold their wealth. But when the wealthy want everything, they put the fear of God in us by screaming: SOCIALISM.

One of the people I follow on Twitter has the perfect saying: Give Ron Paul a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach Ron Paul to fish and he’ll call you a socialist.

The one question that determines who you are politically is this: Do you live in a “me” society or a “we” society?

America gained its exceptionalism because we worked together. Yes, there is such a thing as individualism and genius. These are the creative types who develop new technologies.

We are multi-cultural, with our population always growing from immigration. It was this coming together of workers, capitalists, and the creative that resulted in our exceptionalism. We were the first country to produce those two geniuses who made the first flight; that same country that put the first people on the moon. We invented the transistor. We invented the silicon chip.

This is where we arrive at the purpose of this paper: Health Care. For being so exceptional, we were, for the longest time, in respects to our health care system, exceptional in that our people had no health care; we were one of two developed countries in which a family could go bankrupt over health care bills (South Africa being the other; they have a dual system: one for the wealthy and one, under funded and under staffed, for the rest.)

We were told by the mouthpieces of the wealthy that universal health care is socialism. Every opponent to universal healthcare pointed to the faults in the Canadian system, the British system, the French system.

No system is perfect. But exaggerating the problems in other countries doesn’t help our country’s situation at all and avoids the simple question: if we are so exceptional, how come we have no health care system for our people?

This situation overwhelmingly begs the question: If we are so exceptional, then why must we accept a system of some other country?

If we know their faults, and we are truly exceptional, why can’t we make the best health care system of them all, incorporating what works and tossing out what doesn’t?

This is true American exceptionalism. This is what we are capable of and because we can do it, we must.

If you believe in American exceptionalism, then you must believe that we can do this better than anyone. If you believe we live in a “we” society, then you know we must do it. If you believe in military readiness, then you must believe that every person must be ready to do his/her part and must be healthy enough to do so.

The American public is, at this point in time, exceptionally unhealthy. We are overweight, suffering through an epidemic of diabetes. We are exceptional in how many prisoners we have locked up, the number of teen pregnancies, total crimes, total rapes, and total divorces.

This is not the American exceptionalism the chauvinists speak of, but it’s the America we’ve got because we’ve turned away from what had made us exceptional in the first place: a mixture of people, hope, and creativity working together.

Politics have split up America more than I’ve ever seen in my life time. We’ve never had a more worthless congress in our history; voting to reverse Obamacare 30 some times even though they knew it would go nowhere; historical obstructionism because of a refusal to compromise while employing the filibuster more often than any senate in our history.

If we are truly exceptional (in more and better ways than listed above) we are going to have to forget our differences, focus on those things we agree upon, and learn to work together.

If we are truly exceptional, we can and must create a health care system that stands above and beyond all health care systems of the planet.

If we are truly exceptional, we can do anything we want.

If we are truly exceptional….

A friend asked me if I'd like to play in a golf tournament.

At first I said no.

Then he said, "Aw, c'mon, its for handicapped and blind kids."

Then I realized ..... hey, I could win this!

“True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.” Kurt Vonnegut

The night before the election, Mitt Romney was
very confident and told his wife Ann, "This time
tomorrow night, you'll be sleeping with the
President of the United States."

The following night, after Mitt's concession speech,
they headed to bed.

Ann was getting undressed when she asked, "How
does this work? Is Barack coming over here or am
I supposed to go over there?"

I'm sure everyone's heard about that part in the Bible that says if a man lies with a man he shall be stoned.

In Washington, where same sex marriage was just passed by the people, marijuana is also legal.

As you can see the Bible was right. We've just been interpreting it wrong.
